Unexpectedly and allegedly turned out to Liwa iscenter of of vegetables in the province of Lampung . Liwa area is located between Mount Pesagi and the South Bukit Barisan National Park (BBSNP). The land that is surrounded by hills make this area has beautiful scenery. Precise enough to be a place of refreshing. Especially for those of you who have solid activity.

Selamat Datang Liwa
                                                                         Welcome Liwa

At first, Liwa is a coffee producer who has a considerable contribution to the national coffee export. But over time, coffee prices are no longer siding with the farmers make a lot of farmers who dismantle their coffee farm and began farming vegetables. Vegetables grown include: Chili Red, Chili Rawit, cabbage (cabbage), mustard eggs, chaisin (chicken noodle cabbage), carrots, and various other vegetable products.

Farmers Liwa dil itself can be classified into two types: (1) advanced farmers, and (2) developing farmer. Farmers are farmers that have been developed using the latest technology with good cultivation. While developing farmers are farmers who still use conventional farming techniques in cultivation activities.

But in general, to chili cultivation in the region (Liwa - West Lampung) is already using cultivation methods that adopt the use of technology. Plastic mulch and seed selection has been in general use by farmers, good farmers and peasants to grow forward. At the stage of land preparation, fertilizers basic form of manure (organic) and chemical fertilizer (N, P, K). Chemical fertilizers are used as basic fertilizer is a single fertilizer.

Meanwhile, pest and disease control techniques currently used pesticides. Pesticides with very high doses is quite unsettling, both for consumers and for farmers themselves. This will also cause a variety of pest and disease resistant so feared it would be difficult in penganggulannya. But that is not environmentally friendly option was chosen because of the economic needs of farmers.
Harvesting red chili made by paying workers with a system of daily harvest to harvest. Sales through dealers (middlemen) who come directly to farmers. Pricing mechanism adopted is the market price mechanism. So farmers sometimes lucky sometimes loss, due to the fluctuating price of this policy.
Based on the illustration above, we can conclude several things:

  1. Agriculture in Liwa, Lampung Barat is applying good farming technology.
  2. Chili farmers to sell goods through middlemen, resulting in price volatility and lack of clarity about the payment system and the demand for goods. All depends on market mechanisms.
  3. There needs serious attention from the government, especially local governments to create an integrated field studies that work with farmers to develop cultivation technology better. It is necessary to ensure the sustainability of agricultural activities, especially the red peppers (Capsicum annuum. L) in Liwa, Lampung Barat.
